About Tinysnips

Founded in 2019 by Miniature Artist Rui, Tinysnips is a Singapore-based art studio focused on the art of handcrafted miniatures and miniature-making workshops. Through each piece, Rui hopes to capture the quiet beauty of everyday moments and objects, transforming them into tiny treasures to cherish.

What we do

We design and sculpt premium miniatures and life-sized creations for window displays, custom commissions and workshops.

Every piece we share is an original design and handcrafted in small batches by Rui. Beyond our custom miniatures, we love sharing the art of miniature-making through workshops. Whether at our cosy studio or a location of your choice for corporate events and parties, we hope to bring the world of miniatures to you.

About Rui 瑞

Hi, I am Rui, the founder, the hands 👌 and the brain 🧠 behind Tinysnips. 🎓 I am a miniature artist, designer, and illustrator with a BA(Hons) in Communication Design from The Glasgow School of Art and a Diploma with Merit in Visual Communication from Nanyang Polytechnic. Under Tinysnips, I have conducted multiple workshops, created custom works and collaborated with brands like NTU Museum, BreadTalk IHQ, Tiong Bahru Bakery, ACM and Nikon.

Apart from running an art studio, I am also a practicing graphic designer with more than 10 years of industry experience, working with local and international brands. Hence, when a participant attends my workshop, they will not only be achieving a new set of skills but gaining insights and a creative perspective from an experienced artist and designer.

Our Story

Why did I create Tinysnips? While I enjoy working on my computer, I have always been fascinated by how artists create such intricate pieces using only their hands. My journey began as a child when I sculpted my first "masterpiece" out of Blu-tack: a plate of Nasi Lemak. That early curiosity led me down a rabbit hole of exploration, and it felt only natural to open an art studio dedicated to the craft of the handmade. The name ‘Tinysnips’ is a word I created, representing a personal meaning and the core principles I follow in my work.

Our Aim

Our aim is to showcase a deep appreciation for creating with your hands and to promote Singaporean food, design, culture and heritage.

Our Workshops

We wish to provide a creative and enjoyable workshop experience for all ages. All of our workshops have a set of guidelines and instructions to follow so that complete beginners do not feel frustrated and lost. However, for workshops with a longer duration, we would encourage our students to showcase their personality and teach them how to think creatively while keeping within the boundaries of the class and topic. These specially curated topics will give them the basic skills and knowledge to explore making other types of miniatures and other art mediums, as miniature-making is a unique craft that covers a wide range of art techniques. Feel free to reach our if you have any questions.
