What we do

We design and sculpt fully customisable, premium miniatures, illustrations, and life-sized creations for window display.

All of our clay creations are original designs and handmade in small batches by our founder, Rui- without the use of any machinery! Our store carries a range of items from handmade jewellery, keychains, display pieces to original prints. Occasionally, we also conduct miniature-making workshops for events and parties, which can be conveniently hosted at a location of your choosing.

About Rui 瑞

Hi, I am Rui, the founder, the hands 👌 and the brain 🧠 behind Tinysnips. 🎓 I am a miniature artist, designer, and illustrator with a BA(Hons) in Communication Design from The Glasgow School of Art and a Diploma with Merit in Visual Communication from Nanyang Polytechnic. Under Tinysnips, I have conducted multiple workshops, created custom works and collaborated with brands like Tiong Bahru Bakery, Learning Kidz and Nikon.

Apart from running an art studio, I am also a practicing graphic designer with more than 10 years of industry experience, working with local and international brands. Hence, when a participant attends my workshop, they will not only be achieving a new set of skills, but gaining insights and a creative perspective from an experienced artist and designer.

Our Story

Why did I create Tinysnips? Even though I love working with my computer, I have always been intrigued and fascinated by how an artist could create such intricate pieces with only their hands. When I was a child, I did my first sculpt with blue-tac and my chosen subject was a plate of Nasi Lemak. Curiosity took me down a rabbit hole of exploration and so, it felt natural for me to open an art studio that focused on the handmade. The word ‘Tinysnips’ is a made up word with a personal meaning and principle that I follow.

Our aim

Our aim is to showcase a deep appreciation for creating with your hands, and to promote Singaporean food, design, culture and heritage.

Our workshops

We wish to provide a creative and enjoyable workshop experience for all ages. All of our workshops have a set of guidelines and instructions to follow so that complete beginners do not feel frustrated and lost. However, for workshops with a longer duration, we would encourage our students to showcase their personality and teach them how to think creatively while keeping within the boundaries of the class and topic. These specially curated topics will give them the basic skills and knowledge to explore making other types of miniatures and other art mediums, as miniature-making is a unique craft that covers a wide range of art techniques. Feel free to reach our if you have any questions.
